The DFW HS All-Star &

Unsigned Senior Showcase

The DFW HS ALL STAR & Unsigned Senior Showcase committee has just unveiled the Official Nominations for the 4th Annual ALL STAR & "Hidden Gems" Showcase Games! The 2020 teams will feature some of the state’s top talent hailing from the DFW Metroplex. In the last four years, Heads Up! has set the stage for over 100 unsigned seniors to showcase their talents, giving college coaches/recruiters one ‘last look' with at least 50 of those student-athletes receiving college scholarships.

Heads Up! has dedicated over 17 years mentoring student-athletes/leaders, providing quarterly opportunities for development and exposure that prepares them for their future. Our Inaugural ALL STAR Exposure Showcase in 2017 featured 22 of the best players in Dallas county (East vs West) - all set before a host of college coaches/recruiters; and only 4 players had college commitments prior to tip-off. Within 6 weeks following that presentation, 14 of those unsigned Seniors were offered college scholarships. We proudly attribute that to the mass media exposure, direct support and leadership, and advocacy provided by our organization.

In 2018, HeadsUp! introduced the Unsigned Senior Combine - "HIDDEN GEMS" - which allows eligible, high school Seniors with little or no college offers to showcase their abilities with timed/measured events like the lane agility drill, vertical jump, and full-court sprints. Top performers are selected to play in the Showcase Game that precedes the ALL STAR Game. This unique feature has proven to be a successful tool for solid college exposure.

During ALL STAR WEEK, the selected ALL STAR student-athletes will participate in a mandatory Volunteer initiative led by Heads Up! in partnership with The Stewpot in downtown Dallas, TX. in an effort to support small, local outreach programs in under-served areas. Geekletes in Desoto, TX will host the Exclusive Kick-off MEDIA DAY event, providing our participants a unique exposure experience and access to a host of local media outlets. Additionally, HeadsUp! will host the first-ever "Players Ball" - a prestigious awards celebration recognizing the talents of local players, coaches, and teams in the DFW basketball community. This event will be sponsored by Reimagine Redbird at RedBird Mall in southern Dallas, TX. The week culminates with the exciting showcase games featuring our All Stars and "Hidden Gems" as well as the newly added middle school "Rising Stars" and special guests, Special Olympics team from Lewisville ISD. A community fair featuring local small business vendors will be onsite as well.

ALL STAR WEEK is principally covered by HeadsUp! MEDIA – a media entity of The Heads Up! Foundation – that produces record viewership via its online and social media platforms. Since December 2017, HeadsUp! MEDIA has  generated over 500k+ monthly impressions, 17,000 daily impressions. With an estimated 5M+ annual viewership reach, HeadsUp! MEDIA has summarily become a trusted source for quality media/scouting coverage .

“The student-athletes selected to the DFW HS ALL STAR Showcase rosters represent the future of basketball,” notes Jabari Johnson, Founder of The Heads Up! Foundation. “We’re always excited about the opportunity to showcase some of the finest basketball talent across the metroplex while raising funds and awareness for our cause. We are honored to serve as a launch pad of success for our student-athletes and look forward to following their respective careers at the next level.”
